NeighborWorks® Community Partners is seeking a passionate and skilled Grants Writer to join our Resource Development team. In this full-time role, you will play a key part in advancing our mission to help individuals become successful homeowners and revitalize neighborhoods. You will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, crafting persuasive grant proposals, maintaining relationships with funders, and supporting grant reporting efforts. Profile Summary

You are a detail-oriented and results-driven professional with a proven track record in securing funding through strategic grant writing and management. You excel at researching funding sources, developing compelling narratives that align with organizational goals, and building strong relationships with funders and stakeholders. You’re proficient in tools like GrantHub and Submittable, and comfortable working in Microsoft Office Suite. With a collaborative spirit and a deep understanding of fundraising strategies, you’re ready to support our commitment to housing equity and community development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of the strategy within the Resource Development Department
  • Develop and maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines, submission dates, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities, ensuring timely and organized grant management
  • Conduct research and identify grant funding opportunities
  • Draft grant proposals and documents based on the funding requirements
  • Collaborate with the Director of Resource Development and Director of External Financial Reporting to compile annual and other periodic grant-related reports
  • Maintain positive relationships with funding providers and other stakeholders
  • Maintain funder relationship contact, communication and outcome documentation related to grant management
  • Review and analyze grant feedback from funders to improve future submissions and align proposals more closely with funder priorities and expectations

Additional Duties

  • Participate in local community events to build awareness of the organization’s mission and programs
  • Facilitate workshops or informational sessions on grant writing or funding opportunities for community partners
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather community impact stories and data for use in grant proposals
  • Represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and public forums to strengthen community ties and identify potential funding collaborations
  • Support volunteer engagement initiatives that align with grant-funded projects

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in creative or technical writing, communication, business or related field
  • Minimum of two years of proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources & tools
  • Familiarity with grant management tools such as GrantHub or Submittable will be preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit funding landscapes and grant cycles
  • Excellent research and analytical skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and compelling proposals tailored to specific funder requirements
  • Project management skills to handle multiple deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financial documentation for grant applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information into persuasive narratives
  • Experience with CRM or donor management systems is a plus

This is an on-site position at the 1896 Niagara Street, Buffalo, NY location. However, occasional accommodations can be made for off-site work, based on situational needs. Base pay range: $60,000.00/yr – $68,000.00/yr. FLSA Status: Exempt. Reports to: Sr. Director of Resource Development.
