General Statement of Duties

  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction to meet individual and group learning needs utilizing state guidelines and division curriculum.
  • Display considerable knowledge of learning theory and best practices.
  • Act in the best interests of students and model appropriate behavior in all professional interactions.
  • Service is itinerant/traveling assignment serving Varina High School and John Rolfe Middle School.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods and lift items up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations

  • Plan daily instructional activities for secondary students, using state Standards of Learning and district curriculum.
  • Use current school and division data to plan instruction.
  • Develop formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain order within the classroom and school.
  • Maintain records of student performance and attendance, and communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Select, requisition, and use instructional materials appropriate for all students.
  • Coordinate instruction with other staff.
  • Stay abreast of educational trends and best practices.
  • Maintain professional manner in interactions.
  • Incorporate technology to support instruction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Teaching license in the curriculum mentioned is required.
  • Bachelor's degree, relevant college coursework, and passing Praxis test scores are encouraged.

Additional Information

  • The actual salary is prorated based on start date. Assignment includes choral/vocal stipend starting at $3,507.60.

Salary

  • Minimum annual starting salary: $57,925.45 (Bachelor's)
  • Maximum annual starting salary: $60,706.02 (Master's)
  • Opportunity School stipend: $3,500
  • Choral/vocal stipend: $3,507.60
