The Manager, US Public Relations, is responsible for developing and executing strategic PR initiatives to enhance the Harry Winston brand’s visibility across fine jewelry, timepieces, salons, and philanthropic partnerships. This role manages media relations, photo shoots, PR & philanthropy events, budgets, and collaborates with both internal teams and global PR departments. The manager supports philanthropic efforts, oversees press coverage, and ensures cohesive brand messaging.
Key Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Work with Director, US Marketing & Communications and Vice President, US Retail to develop annual PR and communications strategy for brand, its fine jewelry and timepiece collections, US salons and philanthropic partnerships.
- Proactively seek opportunities to generate press coverage for the Harry Winston brand and its fine jewelry and timepiece collections on both the national and regional level.
- Reactively respond to press opportunities for the brand and assess their feasibility and impact on sales.
- Create and maintain relationships with key media, print and digital to successfully plan, pitch and secure editorial placements.
- Disseminate press materials to key press contacts and conduct follow up those results in positive coverage.
- Manage jewelry and timepiece photo shoots from media requests to product selection, from security coordination to onsite photo shoot presence and crediting.
- Manage salon photo shoots and event photography, inclusive of contract negotiation.
- Collaborate with a variety of internal departments including Global PR, merchandise planning, quality assurance, security and salon teams to secure requisite approvals and execute PR projects with success.
- Manage PR budget along with the reporting and accounting activities required.
- Coordinate with the New York-based Global Jewelry PR and Swiss-based Global Timepiece PR teams on global initiatives, projects, and approvals.
- Leverage all paid advertising opportunities to maximize the brand's exposure across all vehicles and mediums inclusive of print, online and social.
- Oversee US press events from inception and execution.
- Partner with Salon Directors to increase visibility and press coverage in the market. Develop speaking points and language for client communications as needed.
- Keep salons informed of expected and secured PR coverage, news from the brand and new introductions.
- Oversee monthly clipping and reporting of jewelry and timepiece coverage to global PR departments.
- Consistently monitor and report on competitor activities.
- Partner with shopping center partners to ensure inclusion in their communications, PR and social media strategies and outreach. Distribute new press materials, monthly social assets and red‑carpet assets as available.
- Collaborate closely with the Director, US Marketing & Communications and Philanthropic Consultant to manage existing and explore new partnerships across the US.
- Continuously evaluate philanthropic organizations that align with the Brilliant Futures mission.
- Work with US Marketing team on brand activations at philanthropic galas and in‑salon events. Serve as main point of contact for philanthropic partners, including their press teams, and develop press releases and maximize coverage for sponsored events and initiatives.
- Partner with relevant staff at philanthropy and create ways to communicate the brand to their top donors, board of directors and supporters.
- Seek executive approval for co‑venture agreements with established partners, while creating outreach programs to communicate special offerings.
- Closely track and report closed transactions that are tied to a co‑venture sale to ensure the organization gets paid for the incremental donation.
- Oversee coordination of product donations in support of philanthropic initiatives.
Job Qualifications
- 5+ years in related field or position
- Experience with luxury retail brand preferred
- Strong strategy development and relationship management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
