The Role

ShermansTravel Media seeks a Head of Content & User Experience to shape how travelers discover, engage with, and return to both ShermansTravel and Smart Luxury, with particular focus on the latter.

This leader will unify editorial excellence with product vision — understanding that content now encompasses everything from storytelling and design to partner itineraries, user tools, and AI‑driven personalization. You’ll define a modern content strategy that drives audience growth, elevates brand value, and creates “sticky” experiences that convert casual visitors into loyal users.

You’ll collaborate across editorial, marketing, product, and sponsorships to evolve both platforms into interconnected ecosystems that inspire travelers and support our business goals.

Key Responsibilities

User Experience & Product Vision

  • Partner with product and marketing leads to “crack the code” on what drives repeat engagement and traffic, creating features that keep travelers coming back.
  • Shape the content architecture and UX/UI across both brands to deliver intuitive, inspiring, and conversion‑friendly experiences.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to implement tools that leverage AI as a value‑add to our editorial.
  • Leverage analytics, social listening, and behavioral insights to refine how readers discover, interact with, and act on content.
  • Bring a deep understanding of how design, tone, and functionality combine to create emotional connection, trust, and brand preference.
  • Explore and test AI‑driven solutions that enhance personalization, surface relevant itineraries, and optimize content distribution.
  • Define and uphold the distinct editorial voice of Smart Luxury — intelligent, warm, and trustworthy.
  • Oversee all content — features, guides, spotlights, roundups, and destination stories — ensuring clarity, elegance, and brand cohesion.
  • Commission, edit, and manage a network of contributors with expertise in luxury travel, hospitality, and design.
  • Ensure editorial alignment with sponsors while maintaining integrity and audience trust.
  • Repurpose Smart Luxury content on ShermansTravel where relevant — extending premium insights to broader audiences and increasing reach.
  • Represent ShermansTravel Media at industry events and within the travel and hospitality community, with an emphasis on Smart Luxury, cultivating relationships that elevate brand authority.
  • Oversee and refine social media strategy and storytelling across platforms, ensuring tone, timing, and content support both audience engagement and brand objectives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years in digital content leadership, ideally within travel, luxury lifestyle, or design‑forward media.
  • Proven success developing integrated editorial and UX strategies that drive audience growth and brand engagement.
  • Strong creative instincts balanced by analytical rigor — knows how to scale quality content and measure its impact.
  • Track record of successfully growing audiences by creating repeat and sustainable traffic pipelines.
  • A robust roster of travel writers and contributors across the globe with deep expertise in destinations, hotels, and cruise.
  • Collaborative leader with experience guiding cross‑functional teams in editorial, marketing, and product.
  • Strong grasp of hotel and hospitality sectors and the nuances of premium travel experiences.
  • Strategic and commercially minded — able to align storytelling, user experience, and revenue objectives.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with AI tools, personalization engines, or trip‑planning platforms that extend content utility.
