Overview
Regular, full-time, hourly, non-exempt, and benefit-eligible staff position.
$15.38 per hour may be equivalent to $31,990.40 per year.
Position is shift-based and mission essential.
Position Classification

Position Duties
Receive incoming telephone or alarm system calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service, emergency ambulance service, and the SafeWalk program. Dispatch requests for services such as motorists assists, motorist unlocks, faculty and staff office unlocks, information, and after-hours calls for all campus departments.
Question callers to determine location and nature of problems to determine the appropriate response. Dispatch units per established procedures. Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages. Issue and monitor access to the on-campus sidewalk system for vendors, visitors, and UCO faculty/staff needing interior access.
Enter, update, and retrieve information from telecommunications networks and computerized data systems (e.g., wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration). Use OLETS to respond to messages from other law enforcement agencies. Maintain files related to emergency calls, personnel rosters, and directories. Greet and assist in-person customers and visitors.
Operate under minimal supervision; handle complex issues and problems. Work schedule is 40 hours per week with shift work (four 10-hour shifts per week); hours are flexible.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required
General education or vocational training and 3+ years’ relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
Shall not have been convicted of a serious misdemeanor or felony. Must effectively speak English. OLETS certification. Thirty (30) college credits.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Make sound, effective decisions with minimal supervision. Within six months, complete Oklahoma State Telecommunications Certification; recertify every two years; fingerprint within 30 days of employment and every 5 years thereafter. Attend weather monitoring software training within one year.
Express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Speak calmly under stress. Maintain highly accurate records. Operate public safety communication devices (police radio, recording, telecom equipment). Handle stressful emergencies with good human relations skills and sound judgment. Follow complex instructions and comply with password requirements.
