Role Description
Teaches knowledge and skills in the field of music, which may include general, instrumental or choral music to elementary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.
Provides instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music.
Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive studio environment.
Recruits students to receive instruction in playing standard band and orchestra instruments.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or significant graduate work preferable.
Valid Massachusetts licensure in the appropriate discipline and level
Recent successful experience at the appropriate level
Demonstrates ability as a musician
Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing.
