Library Assistant Security Supervisor – University Center for Academic Excellence at UNC Charlotte University Center for Academic Excellence, UNC Charlotte, Charlotte, NC Position Information Position Number: 002166. Classification Title: Property Security Supervisor‑Contributing. Working Title: Library Assistant Security Supervisor. Employment Type: Permanent – Full‑time. Hours per week: 40. Months per year: 12. Hours: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday–Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours as required. Floating schedule with rotating days off; weekend hours required. Salary Range: $33,540 – $39,140 (anticipated range $33,540 – $37,697). Salary Grade: GN04. Essential Job Duties Reports directly to the Library Security Director and serves as the service‑point contact between library staff and the security team. Assists in the operation of the library’s security program, which includes security officers, video surveillance equipment, card access, and intrusion alarms. Performs daily building patrols to support the Building Operations team in identifying issues. Responds to building fire alarms, facilities disasters, and medical emergencies. Assists in scheduling temporary library security officers, serves as liaison to campus police, and performs administrative duties of the library’s Security Office. Communicates university and library expectations to students, faculty, staff, and the public, encouraging compliance with guidelines, policies, and standards. Minimum Education/Experience High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work. Valid N.C. driver’s license. Preferred Education/Experience At least five (5) years of law enforcement or security‑related experience and/or completion of Basic Law Enforcement training or equivalent training. Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently. Necessary Licenses or Certifications Valid N.C. driver’s license. Other Work Responsibilities Computer skills required include word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs, and ability to learn new applications. This position involves walking and climbing stairs.
