Visual Communications Specialist - UCSF School of Dentistry
A 1‑year contract position supporting internal and external communication campaigns. The Specialist will design and produce high‑impact visual content for digital, print, and physical environments, ensuring accessibility and impact for audiences both on and off campus, including those who may not be desk‑based.
Responsibilities
Create visual assets for employee engagement, institutional initiatives, new clinic launches, and academic programs.
Produce visuals across multiple media: digital, print, and physical spaces.
Ensure accessibility compliance and high‑impact communication for diverse audiences.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3–5 years of professional experience in visual design, preferably in higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) and Canva.
Demonstrated experience designing for both print and digital channels.
Excellent layout, typography and color theory skills.
Strong interpersonal communication and ability to work within teams.
Proficiency with digital and email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.
Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading and mentoring others in a department.
Large‑format display design (digital screens, banners, posters).
Motion graphics or video editing experience.
Understanding of internal communications or employee engagement strategy.
Compensation
Salary range: $87,900 – $187,700 (annual). Contract status: 100% on site 4 days, 1 day telework.
