A Nonprofit organization is seeking a temp to perm Manager of Audience Development & Membership. This position plays a key role within the Marketing & Partnerships team, responsible for driving visitor traffic, growing event participation, and deepening member engagement. This position focuses on expanding the organization’s audience base by reaching new visitors, enhancing the member experience, and cultivating long-term community connections. This role combines marketing, outreach, and data-driven strategy to attract and retain audiences—particularly within the media, sports, gaming, entertainment, and tech sectors—and convert them into active members and participants. The ideal candidate is a proactive, collaborative marketer experienced in audience growth and community engagement for cultural or experience-driven organizations.

  • Onsite in NYC
  • Rate range: $40-45 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute audience development strategies to increase visitation and participation across exhibitions, programs, and events.
  • Support member engagement and recruitment through targeted marketing, partnerships, and social media, in collaboration with the Development team.
  • Drive attendance for public and special events including screenings, family programs, and gaming tournaments.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Social Media, Creative, Development) to deliver compelling campaigns, member promotions, and content.
  • Lead outreach initiatives to acquire and retain members from target industries such as media, entertainment, sports, gaming, and technology.
  • Assist in planning and promoting invitation-only events, previews, receptions, and fundraising activities.
  • Contribute to the development of newsletters, event collateral, and other membership communications.
  • Track and report on performance metrics, audience trends, and engagement opportunities.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador at public programs and events, representing the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Participate in additional marketing and audience-related projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills for cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solver with data-informed decision-making skills.
  • Professional, adaptable, and proactive approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in audience development, marketing, or relationship management, ideally within a nonprofit, cultural, or entertainment-focused organization.
  • Familiarity with the media, entertainment, sports, or gaming industries.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives, manage projects, and collaborate across teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for audience engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; bilingual fluency in Spanish a plus.
  • Willingness to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends for events.
  • Preference for candidates who thrive in a collaborative, in-person work setting.
