Serve Your Community as an Adult Services Librarian at Cary Regional Library in downtown Cary!
Engage directly with Wake County citizens as an Adult Services Librarian, where you’ll have the chance to share the magic of the library with the community. From delivering captivating programs, offering one-on-one professional services and working on a service desk, you’ll create unforgettable experiences that inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning. Your role will be essential in connecting adults of all ages with the library’s resources, fostering relationships and building community.
Key Responsibilities of an Adult Services Librarian:
- Create Engaging Programs: Unleash your creativity by designing and implementing dynamic programs for adults of all ages.
- Build Community Skills: Meet one-on-one with adults to assist them in building skills in job searching, doing research, applying for college and more.
- Lead Confidently: Take charge in the absence of library managers to ensure smooth operations; support and provide resources for colleagues.
- Collaborate with Passion: Work with a dedicated team to brainstorm, plan and execute programs, projects, and maintain collections; foster support, innovation and shared success.
- Build Strong Community: Work with managers and peers to establish and nurture strong relationships with the community; promote library services and enhance programs; provide excellent customer service, reference and reader advisory services.
Location: Cary Regional Library, 315 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary, NC 27511
Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 8:15–5:15; Thursday 12:10–9:10; Friday 8:15–5:15 or 9:15–6:15; Every 4th weekend with Friday off; Saturday 8:15–5:15 or 9:15–6:15; Sunday 12:10–5:10.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Master’s degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program.
- Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted.
- No specific experience required.
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
- Coursework in adult services.
- One year of professional librarian experience.

About This Position
Location: Cary Library, Cary, NC 27511 USA.
Employment Type: Regular.
Work Schedule: 40 hrs. per week, combo days, evenings, and regular weekend rotation.
Hiring Range: 26.16-31.99. Market Range: 26.16 - 37.81.
