Librarian (Public Services): Adult Services I. This open recruitment will be used to fill current openings at library locations throughout Weber County. It is not location-specific.

Responsibilities
- Provide reference, readers' advisory, and referral services in person, by telephone, and online from a reference desk.
- Develop and present events for adults and families; manage building operations; schedule, direct, and evaluate employees.
- Participate in personnel management, collection development, research and readers' advisory services, computer/technology instruction, program development and presentation, outreach/community involvement, and facilities oversight.
- Contribute to performance review processes and provide input for quarterly updates and end-of-year reviews.
- Develop, promote, facilitate, present, and evaluate innovative programs to meet diverse community needs (e.g., book discussions, technology classes, English for speakers of other languages, arts and wellness activities, community outreach).
- Develop employee work schedules compliant with laws, county policy, and library procedures.
- Supervise meeting venue use, bookings, setup, and address facility issues per procedure.
- Maintain knowledge of publishing trends, literature, and library professional developments.
- Serve as a notary public in accordance with state laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of Library services.
- Preserve safety, appearance, and condition of Library facilities and property.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited program.
- Experience: At least one year of professional experience in a public or academic library preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Significant knowledge of reference and readers' advisory tools; familiarity with current and classic literature for adults and teens; understanding of collection development; strong customer service; proficiency with Microsoft Office and library software; ability to manage multiple projects with interruption; good judgment and professional ethics; ability to implement Library Board policies and procedures.
- Special Qualifications: Availability for morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and some holiday shifts; remote work not authorized; pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check required; ability to engage with high-risk populations; fluency in more than one language preferred.

Work Environment and Schedule
Work generally occurs indoors in a public service environment. Employees may work rotating shifts (seven days a week) with flexible hours (morning, afternoon, evening, holiday hours). Up to two evenings per week and alternating weekend shifts are expected. Exempt status applies to professional employees; emergencies or special projects may require adjusting responsibilities or covering for others.
