Job Summary/Description
KPLC in Lake Charles is seeking a motivated and dynamic Multimedia Journalist to join our award‑winning news team. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader, passionate about storytelling, and an effective communicator who excels at cultivating sources and producing enterprise stories. The role requires a love of local news, a passion for creative storytelling, and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities
Generate own story ideas, set up interviews, write broadcast and digital stories, maintain professional social media accounts, assist producers in showcasing stories. Write, shoot, edit, and present stories for multiple newscasts under deadlines, and produce content for stream and website. Ability to ad‑lib and anchor is a plus, as MMJs often fill in on the desk.
Qualifications
- Strong live reporting skills and proficiency on all digital platforms.
- Driving, shooting video, running a live shot, editing, and writing are required.
- College degree in Journalism or related field, internship and/or professional newsroom experience.
- Experience with Edius, ENPS, LiveU, VMix, and Canva is a plus.
