Our team is seeking a Transportation Technician 11 for our Bureau of Field Services Team. We are looking for someone who can embrace the challenges of meeting our goals and exceeding the standards!
Responsibilities
- This position functions as the recognized resource responsible for video inspection of undrains, culverts, and sewers during the scoping, design and construction phases of Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) construction projects statewide.
- This position also performs non-destructive testing, compressive strength testing on rock cores, and equipment maintenance.
- Travel for regular field inspections and reviews may be required and possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Possession of an Associate's degree in concrete technology, civil technology, construction technology, surveying technology, construction management, mathematics, or computer science.
- Experience: Three years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Technician, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Technician E10. The following substitutions apply:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an Applied Science with 16 semester hours (24 term) credits in job specific or related coursework qualifies for Transportation Technician E10.
- 60 semester (90 term) credits including 24 semester (36 term) credits in relevant coursework may substitute for the associate's degree.
- Four years of technician level experience in quality control inspections, drafting, materials testing, surveying, or traffic may substitute for the Associate's degree.
- Current certification in bituminous (hot mix), concrete, density testing, or aggregate gradation with one year of related field experience may substitute for the associate's degree.
- Current certification in bituminous (hot mix), concrete, density testing, or aggregate gradation with three years experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 9 may substitute for the associate's degree.
- Current certification in bituminous (hot mix), concrete, density testing, or aggregate gradation with completion of 16 semester (24 term) credits in relevant coursework may substitute for the Associate's degree.

- Possess a valid driver's license.

Civil Service accepts evaluations from organizations listed on the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.
