Position Summary
Intermediate Interior Designer – Healthcare for Perkins Eastman Architects DPC to work at our San Francisco, CA location. May telecommute one day per week. Work with team to envision the concept story, project narrative and graphics for concept presentations. Assist team in space planning and furniture layouts. Prepare and assemble FF&E packages to write specifications, including quote and sample requests. Design and/or direct junior staff in the design and documentation of custom furniture, fabric, carpet and finishes. Collaborate with the architectural team to envision the interior envelope, align with the concept story, and coordinate graphics, documentation and interior elements, including FF&E and other consultant work. Develop custom casework details. Write and direct production of FF&E specifications, including detailed drawings of furniture under the direction of the Principal Designer. Create FF&E budgets and matrices. Prepare interior design schedules including finishes, decorative lighting, bath accessories, door hardware and plumbing fixtures. Field calls and emails from the purchasing agent and/or general contractor. Keep the Principal Designer and/or Project Manager informed of all re‑selection or other requests for information. Identify issues requiring review and input from the Principal Designer and/or Project Manager. Review furniture installation plans and shop drawings for content and accuracy, ensuring full coordination with all pertinent consultant drawings. Approve shop drawings and samples (FF&E related and contractor related) with final approval by the Principal Interior Designer and/or Project Manager. Coordinate with client, contractor and project team as appropriate per project. Review and conform to Owner and Operator Standards. Assist with purchasing projects. Attend site meetings with owner consultants and contractors, including FF&E installation. Serve as the responsible person for internal presentation of project design materials to the Principal in Charge. Create compelling graphics and sketches for proposals, presentations, whiteboards and other client‑related deliverables. Communicate complex ideas and contribute to clients. May undergo background checks. Little local travel to visit client sites may be involved. Applicants may be required to submit a portfolio.

Qualifications Must have a Bachelor’s in Architecture, Interior Design or a related field and at least 4 years of relevant interior design experience. Additionally, the following skills are required (minimum 4 years of experience):
Working with building and ADA codes, and HCAI (OSHPD 1) regulations
Applying healthcare interiors requirements
Developing furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) schemes
Interpreting interior construction documents including floor plans, floor finish plans, elevations, details, finish schedules and furniture plans
Writing FFE specifications, matrices and budgets
Communicating, presenting and defending design concepts and strategies
Using computer‑assisted design and digital communication software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Miro, Affinity Publisher, Affinity Photo, Rhino, MS Office, SketchUp, V‑Ray, Enscape and the Adobe Creative Suite
