The Opportunity Store Development designs, builds, and maintains beautiful stores in some of the most coveted real estate in North America. We bring the physical expression of our brand to life by keeping client experience at the forefront of our decision-making processes and ensuring the success of our stores by managing cost, quality, and schedule.

We are looking for a passionate and fearless Store Designer who will play a key role in delivering on the promise of Sephora’s innovative retail experience. Collaborating with the store design team and cross-functional partners, this position contributes to Sephora’s success by elevating the overall quality of store design to uphold the Sephora experience while meeting cost, schedule, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working through the complexities of problem solving for a unique site condition as they are with maintaining a relentless eye for the best overall design solution for any given project scope. Project types include both new and existing stores.

Provide planning, interior elevations and storefront design studies based on our current Sephora design standards and specific site conditions. Design for unique conditions as required. Advocate for the design, ensuring we always put our best foot forward. Assist on special projects as required

Facilitate efforts to develop project scope of work including review of codes, tenant criteria, merchandise requirements and any other design elements that may need to be incorporated into a project

Coordinate closely with Real Estate, Retail Operations, Merchandising and Property Development throughout all stages of the design of our stores. Ensure that the field, merchant, and maintenance needs are addressed

Manage outside consultant architects and engineers to ensure project schedules are maintained and documents are accurate for landlord review, permitting, bid and any other required submittals

After start of construction, monitor communication between consultants and construction managers to quickly respond to field conditions and/or changes made to projects

Check all drawings to be sure they meet Sephora design standards and criteria. Coordinate with consultant architects and engineers to incorporate any changes or corrections into the final contract documents. Ensure that drawings are accurate throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that bid information is correct and construction can begin on schedule.

Explore the best options to expedite permit and landlord approvals. Act as primary contact between Sephora and tenant coordinators. Meet face-to-face as required. Partner with AOR to track permit approvals to ensure construction starts on schedule.

Contribute industry insights and fresh perspective to continually improve upon the delivery of on brand, beautiful, functional and cost-effective stores

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

Five to seven years of related experience in Retail Architecture, Retail Design or similar field.

Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite

Experienced with one or more computer visualization tools [SketchUp, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Architectural Design Skills:

Proficiency in designing retail spaces, including floor plans, elevations, and renderings.

Project Management Skills

: Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), CAD software, and construction documentation

Budget Management Skills:

Ability to manage project budgets effectively

Plan and prioritize

work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.

High level of initiative : Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Possesses a high level of curiosity and motivation. Actively seeks new ways to improve their craft. Embraces feedback and loves a challenge

Make sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems. Consider various inputs, criteria and tradeoffs to arrive at the best decision/recommendation

The annual base salary range for this position is $114,750.00- $128,250.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
