Job Description IBM Infrastructure is hiring a highly motivated Senior PCB Layout Designer to design our hardware products. You will be part of a world‑class development team that pioneers industry‑leading hardware for IBM Power Systems servers, including storage, quantum, AI, and IBM Research systems. Our team participates in all aspects of the hardware development process, from processor module to system architecture, schematic capture, circuit design, physical layout, power optimization, signal integrity, mechanical and thermal engineering design, and product engineering.

Responsibilities

Gather system architecture requirements and develop robust layout solutions.

Design high‑density, multilayered, high‑speed PCB layouts in Cadence Allegro v17.2 on a rigorous schedule.

Demonstrate extensive knowledge of placement, wiring, padstacks, board outline restrictions, constraint interpretation, and tuning methods.

Incorporate updates to component placements, routing, and constraints to meet product requirements.

Coordinate input from Mechanical, Signal Integrity, and Power Integrity disciplines to ensure all requirements are satisfied.

Support comprehensive design reviews and implement review feedback while meeting product schedules.

Execute final PD checks, Valor checks, and fabrication/assembly data preparation for manufacturing.

Education

High School Diploma or GED (required).

Bachelor's Degree (preferred).

Requirements

7+ years of experience with Cadence's Allegro PCB Editor.

Experience with Cadence's Allegro PCB Editor version 17.2 and newer.

Experience with Mentor Graphics (now Siemens) Valor Process Engineering Solutions.

Foundational understanding of Card Engineering, Signal Integrity, Power Engineering, Power Integrity, EMC, and related skills.

Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills with pronounced attention to detail.

Strong communication skills.

Self‑starter able to independently drive tasks to completion.

The compensation range and benefits are based on a full‑time schedule for a full calendar year. Salary will vary depending on job‑related skills, experience, and location. Pay increments and frequency of pay will align with employment classification and applicable laws.

For part‑time roles, compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect hourly work and may be prorated for those who start during the calendar year.
