Associate Visual Editor – Overview

Do you have a passion for visuals and storytelling? Join the Hearst Visual Group as an Associate Visual Editor and help shape the visual voice of two iconic brands—Cosmopolitan and House Beautiful. From crafting bold shoots to sourcing impactful imagery, this is a fast‑paced, creative role where no two days look the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research imagery for both print and digital platforms.
  • Produce photo shoots for both Cosmopolitan and House Beautiful brands.
  • Support Visual Directors with day‑to‑day creative and logistical tasks.
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to develop unique shoot concepts.
  • Manage budgets for all assigned shoots and projects.
  • Handle production logistics including call sheets, shot lists, and mood boards.
  • Create and manage contracts, releases, license agreements, and insurance documentation.
  • Process and track invoices and payments promptly.
  • Oversee credits, captions, and routing of images during print close.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in a visual or photo department at a major consumer magazine, website, or similar outlet.
  • Demonstrated experience in both photo research and production.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and a proactive self‑starter.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with photo databases, production tools, and visual workflow processes.
  • Hybrid role, based in NYC: 4 days per week in‑office required.

Compensation

The base salary for this role is between $64,000 - $65,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
