Senior UI & Web Services Developer

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – 2 days/week in office)

Salary: $65.00 – $70.00 USD hourly

Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension

About The Role

We are seeking a seasoned developer to contribute to the modernization of HHSC IT applications. This role focuses on both User Interface (UI) and Web Services development, with a strong emphasis on scalable, responsive design and service-oriented architecture.

Responsibilities

• Front-End Development
  • Build modern, responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs) using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Implement client-facing applications with responsive design principles.
• Web Services Development
  • Convert legacy SOAP-based services to RESTful APIs.
  • Develop secure RESTful services using JBoss EAP.
• Full Lifecycle Participation
  • Engage in requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Create and maintain technical and design documentation.
• Maintenance & Support
  • Perform system analysis, defect resolution, and production support.
  • Apply contemporary testing methodologies and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in all the following areas:
  • 4+ years with Angular (TypeScript)
  • HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, CSS3, Bootstrap, SASS
• 4+ years developing RESTful services with security standards (JWT, OAuth)
• Experience with SOAP and REST APIs
• Core technologies: Java, JEE, Spring Framework, JSON, XML, Maven, OpenAPI v3, JSP, Struts
• Application Design: Integration of web services into Angular/React SPAs, development of reusable, testable modules/components, experience with JEE Application Servers and caching strategies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with JBoss or IBM WebSphere Application Server (v8 or later)
• Agile Development Methodologies (Scrum preferred)
• Development experience for mobile and tablet platforms
