Position Overview The Senior Design Director leads the design vision, strategy, and execution for all commercial interiors and furniture projects. This individual oversees a multidisciplinary design team, ensuring creative excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with client objectives and company goals. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with a passion for design strategy, team mentorship, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers, project managers, and space planners.

Oversee design development from concept through installation, ensuring creative quality and technical accuracy.

Establish and maintain design standards, workflows, and best practices.

Foster collaboration between sales, project management, and operations teams.

Client & Project Engagement

Partner with clients, A&D firms, and corporate real estate teams to understand project goals, budgets, and timelines.

Present design concepts, materials, and furniture solutions with confidence and clarity.

Translate business and cultural insights into design strategies that support client objectives.

Serve as a trusted advisor and creative leader in key client presentations and strategy sessions.

Strategic & Business Development

Contribute to company growth by supporting sales efforts, RFP responses, and pitch presentations.

Maintain awareness of market trends, emerging workplace strategies, and furniture innovations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, industry partners, and design community leaders.

Collaborate with leadership to forecast staffing needs, budgets, and project profitability.

Design Excellence & Innovation

Champion design innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity in all projects.

Ensure the highest quality of space planning, finish selection, and furniture specifications.

Oversee visualization tools, renderings, and presentation materials that reflect the brand’s design identity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (NCIDQ certification preferred).

5+ years of experience in commercial interiors or furniture dealership environments, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Expert knowledge of contract furniture systems, space planning, and workplace strategy.

Strong understanding of building codes, ADA compliance, and construction documentation.

Proficiency in design and visualization software (AutoCAD, CET, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).

Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and cross‑functional teams.

Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
