Role Summary Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operations | Engineering L&D at the Normal plant location, the Sr. Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is responsible for designing, developing, and executing engaging, professional learning content in various digital media formats. As a member of the Manufacturing Operations & Engineering Learning & Talent Team, the Sr. LXD partners closely with L&D Program Managers and Partners to translate requests from Operations and Engineering into effective learning content solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong project management skills, advanced proficiency with industry‑leading design tools, and demonstrated ability to design using adult learning theory and Kirkpatrick’s model of evaluation.
Responsibilities Content Design & Development
Design and build highly interactive, scenario‑based e‑learning modules from scratch using Articulate Storyline for complex interactions and Articulate Rise for responsive, rapid‑development courses.
Produce high‑quality instructional and informational videos using tools such as Camtasia or Adobe Premiere Pro/Creative Cloud.
Efficiently produce scalable AI‑generated video content using tools like Synthesia.
Develop effective support materials, including job aids and presentations, using Google Workspace and/or Adobe tools.
Proactively manage and update existing digital learning assets to ensure content is accurate and current, maintaining version control across platforms.
Design and facilitate upskilling workshops, training sessions, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives for the L&D team on new tools, design standards, and emerging best practices.
Lead virtual and in‑person instructor‑led sessions (VILT) for audiences up to 25; create an engaging environment and promote peer‑to‑peer interaction.
Learning Consultancy & Delivery
Conduct needs analysis and define strategy with stakeholders to identify learning needs, scope, and business gaps.
Define audience and outcomes; establish clear, measurable success metrics and expected post‑training behavior changes in partnership with L&D Program Managers and Partners.
Establish and enforce project timelines; identify risks and roadblocks and take proactive measures to mitigate them; ensure on‑time, in‑scope delivery and elevate risks when needed.
Administer the Learning Management System (Rivian Learning Network, RLN), including end‑to‑end publishing, export/integration, and SCORM file management.
Develop and maintain performance metrics and KPIs for learning initiatives.
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in instructional design or learning experience design, with a primary focus on digital content supporting a corporate learning function; manufacturing environment experience preferred.
Technical proficiency:
Expert proficiency with Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline).
Proven ability with video production tools like Camtasia or Adobe Premiere Pro/Creative Cloud.
Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn AI video creation tools like Synthesia.
Experience using Google Workspace and Adobe tools for support material development.
Strong understanding of adult learning theory and principles; knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and learning evaluation (e.g., Kirkpatrick’s levels).
LMS administration experience, including content publishing, SCORM management, and troubleshooting.
Exceptional consulting, communication, and presentation skills; proven ability to build relationships, manage stakeholder expectations, and influence project direction.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes and training methodologies; ability to execute and deliver milestones in a fast‑paced environment with aggressive timelines.
Preferred Skills
Experience in fast‑paced, high‑growth, or technical environments (e.g., automotive, manufacturing, technology).
Professional certification in learning and development (PHR, CPLP, SHRM, etc.) or certification in instructional design, performance consulting, or project management.
Background in organizational change requirements for learning initiatives, including communications and measurement.
Pay Disclosure Salary Range Illinois‑Based Applicants: $98,500 - $123,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
