Associate Director, Direct Marketing, Annual Giving, Development & Alumni Relations Boston University Advancement seeks an Associate Director to lead and execute our direct mail and email fundraising strategy in support of our Annual Giving program. This role will manage key campaigns such as Giving Day, coordinate with partner schools and external vendors, and oversee the direct marketing calendar to ensure timely delivery of donor solicitations.

Responsibilities

Create strategy and implement direct mail and email campaigns.

Oversee partnership with external printing vendors to produce and mail solicitations and stewardship appeals.

Ensure that all annual giving projects are completed and deployed on‐time.

Set up a strong project management system for the Annual Giving Team.

Project manage Annual Giving Day and other large‑scale projects.

Coordinate working meetings with internal and external partners for Giving Day.

Work with internal partners to write, edit, and design solicitation materials.

Create strategic audience segments and messaging for annual giving solicitations.

Collaborate with Data Analyst to produce reporting that informs future marketing strategies for schools/units.

Communicate central annual giving strategies and current annual giving best practices with schools/units.

Manage master direct marketing calendar, ensuring projects stay on schedule and status updates are visible.

Serve as a backup for all direct marketing projects when the assistant director is out of the office.

Perform additional duties as requested to meet departmental goals.

Qualifications

5–8 years of higher‑education development, direct marketing, or related experience.

Strong project management skills.

Excellent editing experience.

Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus.

Demonstrated organizational skills with a track record of managing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines.

Ability to build and maximize partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong attention to detail.
