SMBW is seeking a talented and driven Interior Designer to contribute to the firm’s portfolio of small to mid-sized projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in interior environments across a range of project types, from workplace and academic to civic and cultural spaces. Additional expertise in full renovation projects and coordination with architectural teams is considered a strong asset. The candidate should bring strong design development skills, a strategic approach to space planning, and a deep understanding of materiality and user experience. The Interior Designer will work closely with project teams, actively contributing to all phases of design and documentation. Responsibilities:
• Work closely with project teams to develop design concepts and translate project objectives into
compelling interior solutions.
• Prepare design drawings, presentations, and technical documentation that align with project goals
and comply with building codes and regulations.
• Research and recommend innovative design methodologies, materials, and technologies to
enhance project quality and sustainability.
• Participate in design team meetings and contribute to fostering a creative and collaborative
environment that encourages knowledge sharing and experimentation.
• Assist in preparing and presenting design concepts to clients and stakeholders, ensuring clarity
and alignment with project requirements.
• Actively pursue professional development opportunities, such as workshops, conferences, or
certifications, to enhance design and technical skills.
• Support Project Managers in assigning project workflows, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality
design solutions.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited program.
• Experience: 3+ years of professional interior design experience, including involvement in design
and documentation phases.
• Technical knowledge: Familiarity with building and material systems and all regulatory standards.
• Software proficiency: Proficient in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam Studio, and Miro, with the ability to
quickly adapt to other relevant design tools and technologies.
• Proactive learner: Demonstrates initiative in pursuing educational and professional development
opportunities independently.
• Licensure progress: Licensure or having taken active steps toward completing the NCIDQ exams
is preferred.
