This is an exciting opportunity at the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) to lead the agency’s marketing, social media, graphic design, digital and website development efforts. You’ll bring creativity, marketing prowess and a passion for Minnesota to lead this work and support staff in developing and promoting campaigns and managing DEED’s digital presence. You’ll facilitate communications and marketing goals by serving as the point person for overseeing strategic planning for marketing, creative and digital strategies, branding initiatives and overall marketing activities for DEED. Responsibilities: Work with staff to create print and digital materials and oversee DEED websites to promote Minnesota’s strengths and individual DEED programs. Oversee the development of an annual marketing plan and content calendar for the DEED brand in coordination with the DEED Communications team and other stakeholders. Execute all marketing plans, identify new audiences, and create plans and campaigns to reach them. Oversee the creation and publication of all marketing materials in line with promotional plans, continually researching current marketing, event, and advertising trends. Oversee DEED social media sites; supervise the marketing coordinator on campaigns and analytics; provide oversight for gathering data about social media accounts, tracking and monitoring the success of digital initiatives, and generating reports. This position is telework eligible. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of marketing experience designing, writing and editing responsive and engaging social media, email, newsletter, and website content (including graphics) across multiple audiences and channels. At least two (2) of those years in a leadership or supervisory role. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism or a closely related field may substitute one (1) year of experience; a master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months, a PhD substitutes for twenty‑four (24) months. Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following: Effective communication, strategic thinking, planning, development and implementation of marketing and communication plans. Ability to manage multiple staff and fast‑paced timelines, meeting deadlines for web, graphic design and marketing production. Leadership of graphic designers to create effective digital and print deliverables and implementation of brand standards. Experience coordinating multi‑channel marketing campaigns across social media and digital platforms. Experience with CMS, SEO, SEM, audience segmentation and remarketing.
