Director of Account Management Overview

The Director of Account Management leads a National Account Management team responsible for delivering on client goals and managing partnerships across the agency holding companies and independent agencies for the programmatic business. This role oversees two Senior Managers who lead our Account Managers and Specialists. This key team member is integral to ensuring advertisers and agencies have a positive customer experience and will help fuel programmatic revenue growth. Reporting into the Senior Director of Account Management, you will partner closely to drive strategy, process and performance across the programmatic business and team. This role requires experience leading a team, setting goals, and developing best practices within the account management discipline of a programmatic business (preferably streaming/OTT/CTV).

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach and develop two senior managers overseeing a team handling pre‑sale and post‑sale account management functions to ensure the team is delivering a best‑in‑class customer experience.
  • Partner with management peers and leadership to ensure alignment across team goals and business priorities.
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations and growth opportunities for all team members.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Partner with leadership to define and standardize workflows and expectations across the account management team.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to cross‑functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflow, improve accuracy and enhance the customer experience.
  • Ensure consistency in how the team plans for and manages deals across proposal development, deal submission, deal monitoring and reporting/client recaps.
  • Develop best practices in how deal performance data is reviewed, analyzed and shared with our clients.

Programmatic Strategy & Growth

  • Partner with the National Sales team and cross‑functional leads to grow the programmatic business and ensure all deals are delivered to the expectations of the clients.
  • Empower and equip the team to provide strategic guidance to clients and sales to drive renewals and identify upsell opportunities.
  • Define the team’s approach to deal health monitoring and performance insights to inform business decisions and client strategy.

Business Management & Insights

  • Establish and track KPIs to measure team efficiency, account/deal health and team’s impact on revenue providing ongoing reachouts to Senior Director of Account Management.
  • Partner with Senior Director of Account Management to identify trends, risks and opportunities across the programmatic business and workflow.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum – Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • People leader in account management role
  • Strong understanding of the programmatic ecosystem, metrics and optimization strategies
  • Understanding of how Streaming/ OTT/ CTV is bought and sold
  • Experience with PMP and PG deal types
  • Experience with Salesforce, SSPs (preferably Magnite & Freewheel), DSPs and other Advertising software or technology
  • Vision of what a good customer experience and lifecycle looks like for programmatic
  • Proven ability to define and implement operational processes that improve efficiency and consistency
  • Customer obsessed to insure excellent client experience and service pre, during, and post‑sale
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills in a faced paced sales environment
  • Collaborative mindset, ready to work with multiple cross‑functional departments
  • Must be an excellent problem solver with expertise in finding solutions with the help of others
  • High level proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel as well as other data and analytics software
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications with overarching skill to translate data, information, and research into powerful points of view—ability to craft and tell a compelling story
  • Familiarity with writing rationales and/or agency POVs (“point of views”)
  • An analytical mindset that identifies solutions based in data

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

  • Ad sales experience: 8+ years
  • Management experience: 2+ years
  • Programmatic experience: 4+ years

Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Experience in CTV video or premium publisher environments
  • Background in organizational transformation including building structure, process and alignment across multiple teams

Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years

  • Experience in an Ad sales environment, with a background in Sales Support, Account Planning, or Operations

Base pay generally ranges between $120,800.00 and $214,200.00. Actual compensation will consider skills, qualifications, experience, location, and additional incentive‑based compensation such as bonuses.
