Information Specialist – AI Research (Libraries and Museums)

The University of Texas at San Antonio is a Tier One research university and a Hispanic Serving Institution specializing in cybersecurity, health, fundamental futures, and social-economic transformation. Job Summary The Information Specialist collaboratively develops and delivers library services and resources at the intersection of AI, data, and scholarly research by leveraging technical knowledge and skills. Builds partnerships with campus partners to integrate AI tools and emerging research methodologies into the academic research ecosystem. Core Responsibilities

Uses technical knowledge and skills to provide consultations and workshops on advanced AI research tools and methodologies to UT San Antonio faculty and students. Provides research support and instruction services to students and faculty. Collaborates with researchers on integrating AI tools and methodologies into their research projects throughout the research lifecycle. Develops expertise to consult with researchers on meta-analysis, evidence synthesis, and systematic reviews across disciplines, integrating AI technologies where appropriate. Serves on the Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee to advance responsible and effective use of AI technologies in the Libraries and Museums. Stays current with emerging trends and developments in AI, evolving research ecosystems, and relevant federal policies. Required Qualifications

MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution or a master’s degree in AI, cybersecurity, computing, data science, or related fields by time of hire. Two years’ experience developing digital content and information resources. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of AI technologies, machine learning, and/or data science, including practical experience with programming languages and AI tools and platforms. Ability to identify, build, cultivate, and sustain relationships with multiple stakeholders. Familiarity with information resources and tools in AI, cybersecurity, computing, data science, or related areas.
