Job Summary The Daniels Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Layout Designer
to join our Engineering team, specializing in the design and development of coal preparation plants and related material handling systems. The successful candidate will assist in creating and refining plant layouts, equipment arrangements, and piping systems using CAD software, ensuring designs meet project specifications, safety requirements, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and modify 2D and 3D layout drawings for coal preparation facilities, including equipment placement, structural components, platework, and piping arrangements.
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to translate conceptual designs into detailed, buildable layouts.
Support the integration of mechanical, electrical, and civil design elements into cohesive plant layouts.
Conduct occasional site visits to collect data and verify design feasibility.
Maintain and update drawing files, revisions, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure all designs comply with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering ,
Industrial Design ,
Drafting Technology , or a related field.
Proficiency in
AutoCAD ,
SolidWorks , or similar CAD software; experience with
Plant 3D ,
Advanced Steel ,
STAAD , or
Tekla
is a plus.
Minimum
3 years of industrial experience
in the coal preparation or related heavy industrial field.
Basic understanding of coal processing systems and plant operations preferred.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under supervision.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Experience working on
international projects
is a plus.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with
coal preparation plant processes
or operations.
Understanding of
material handling equipment
(e.g., conveyors, crushers, screens).
Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards ( MSHA ,
OSHA , etc.).
