Instrumentation & Control Designer Location: Houston, TX
Job type: Contract (12 Months)
Job Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation and Controls Designer to join our dynamic team. They may occasionally be called upon to function as a Project Lead, Drafting Checker, or Coordinator on Projects.
Responsibilities
Support the development of Integrated Control & Safety System drawings, with input from system vendor designers
Develop instrument engineering deliverables such as instrument and fire and gas layout drawings, instrument installation drawings, cabinet and junction box termination diagrams, cable routing drawings, cable list, material take-offs, and loop diagrams.
Collaborate with cross-functional disciplines during project development, design, and installation of various Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) projects.
Develop, review, and ensure proposals contain clearly defined material, equipment, and delivery information.
Contribute and share your technical experience to foster a collaborative work environment.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and lessons learned.
Skills & Qualifications
Certification in instrument control systems engineering or a related field.
5-10 years experience in designing Control Systems.
CAD software proficiency, AutoCAD or SolidWorks, 3D Modelling with Navisworks, experience with AVEVA desirable.
Experience with API, ANSI, IEEE, ISO, EN, ATEX, IEC, and other international codes and standards in instrumentation, control, and automation systems.
Understand Hazardous Area certification requirements.
Identification and selection of appropriate field instrumentation installation requirements, including knowledge of materials used in installations.
Implementing instrumentation cabling, cable tray layouts, and other related activities.
Work independently applying engineering techniques.
Meticulous attention to detail in design and documentation processes.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
A self-starter that demonstrates a positive outlook and contributes to working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary, and collaborative environment.
