As a Senior Instrumentation Designer you will be responsible for executing projects with minimal supervision. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of applicable codes, good design practices and basic design fundamentals to lead projects. You will be expected to have an understanding of project execution. You will report to the department manager. Responsibilities
The overall lead for design concepts on the project. The review and maintenance of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs). Ability to determine the entirety of the instrument design scope based off redline P&IDs. Ability to organize and schedule competing priorities. Ability to speak intelligently about instrument scope in client meetings. Experience working in SPI and Aveva E3D. Understanding fusible loop systems. Experience designing tubing tray systems and various medium pressure tubing installations. Experience developing construction installation work packs. Proficient with control system modifications and wiring. The development of an instrument index and I/O list. The preparation of location plans, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and cable schedule. The assignment or creation of installation details. The design coordination effort with the lead engineer, piping discipline and electrical discipline. The field verification of the project scope. The review of vendor documents to ensure specifications and project requirements are met. The review of mechanical equipment packages. The gathering and distribution of information with the Instrument team and other project disciplines. The verification of the design throughout all design deliverables. The management of instrumentation scope changes. The preparation of material total installed cost estimates. The approval of the instrument design deliverables for the project. The mentorship of younger engineers and designers. Qualifications
10+ years of applicable design experience Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Drafting Technology or related field Experience and proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD/SPI/E3D Smart Instrumentation experience Excellent organizational and communication skills Knowledge of API RP 14C is preferred Physical Requirements
Able to lift and carry ten (10) pounds Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to perform routine office duties Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary, to off-site locations Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection Education & Seniority
