Overview

Mechanical Designer/Drafter with security clearance eligibility is sought to design and develop AVT Simulation's cutting-edge simulators. This onsite position is based in Orlando, FL. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical design background, proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities

Create and modify CAD drawings including sheet metal and machined parts/assemblies, cable harnesses and mechanical interfaces to electronic systems Perform design evaluations considering DFM/DFA Aid engineering team with drafting and documentation activities Develop Bills of Materials and spare parts lists, component documentation and assembly, service, and operator manuals Specify components, materials, coatings, and other design specifications Collaborate with the design team regarding standards and ECN/ECR processes Work with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide innovative solutions Assist in building and validating prototypes Provide technical support during manufacturing and production stages Conduct risk assessments and participate in design reviews to identify and mitigate potential issues Prepare and present designs at design reviews Occasionally visit customer/subcontractor sites for design meetings, installations, retrofits, or related activities Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or five (5) years of mechanical engineering experience Experience in equipment/machine design with Autodesk Inventor or related CAD systems Familiarity with drafting standards and tolerances Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design methodologies Experience in designing sheet metal and machined components and assemblies Experience with simulation hardware or related industries is a plus Familiarity with basic hand tools and assembly Experience with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality designs Ability to work independently and in a team Strong organizational and time-management skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to travel to installation sites and support installation, troubleshooting, and training of customers and other personnel Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance Essential Mental & Physical Requirements
