The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time clinical or clinician-scientist faculty position. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care, research, and education, primarily in our new OSU multi-specialty medical office buildings and surgical suites in the metro Columbus area. Participation in coverage at Columbus VA is also required. Department/Division Overview

The Havener Eye Institute has its primary location in the Eye and Ear Institute building near campus. We have newly constructed state-of-the-art facilities that include on-site outpatient surgical centers. We strive to provide the highest quality of care for our patients with the latest surgical equipment and instrumentation. Duties and Responsibilities
The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of your faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee. It is expected that the academic mission of the Department will be supported. In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be an opportunity to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Faculty candidates will be responsible for patient care, research, and education, primarily in our new OSU multi-specialty medical office buildings and surgical suites in the metro Columbus area. Participation in coverage at Columbus VA is also required. Service commitments will include clinical service at the OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected. Requirements
Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment and be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. Qualified candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology. Subspecialty training in a Reina fellowship is required. Due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. citizenship is required for participation in this role. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management area of subspecialty. Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications. Commitment to resident, fellow, and medical student education is required.
