Position Summary
The Process Designer is responsible for designing hygienic process systems for the Food, Dairy and Beverage, Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Nutraceutical industries. The role includes overseeing process skids and piping projects from start to finish, meeting with customers, developing scope, and assisting in bidding for potential projects. The designer must manage multiple projects simultaneously and support in‑house projects.

Primary Functions
Proficient in providing sound decisions that are well aligned with corporate goals.
Design FDA‑compliant fluid processing systems (pasteurization, sanitization, CIP, heat transfer, fluid dynamics).
Support sales by meeting customers to discuss potential projects.
Understand the function of all sanitary equipment on the market.
Review process designs for internal staff and external engineering partners.
Respond to customer information requests.
Identify opportunities that positively affect margin and make decisions that support profitability.
Utilize design knowledge to drive competitive design solutions on a daily basis.
Use advanced 3D modeling and accurate 2D drafting techniques.
Apply relevant application standards (ASME Sec. IX, cGMP, 3A & BPE).
Maintain engineering drawing control system SOPs.
Assist in design of control systems.
Maintain CRM records of customer and prospect accounts.
Follow‑up with customers after field project completion for satisfaction feedback.
Update customers on current project status.
Provide design assistance for installation services.
Visit potential and current customer sites for design or scope assistance.
Develop AutoCAD drawings (P&ID, layout, 3D) as required.
Define scope, bill of materials, and equipment specifications.
Perform 3D scanning of existing customer facilities.
Generate ETO equipment models and drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
Assist project management with design information during the quoting phase.
Provide on‑site and remote design assistance during installation projects.
Support procurement in equipment evaluation, cost‑benefit analysis, and final selection.
Education / Training
Associate Degree (required).
Technical emphasis (required).
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
Required Experience
5 years managing or designing hygienic process system projects.
Project management experience.
Experience with piping design, pipe fitting, or welding.
Industrial food system processing and bio‑pharmaceutical environments.
System design, equipment, and instrumentation selection.
Skills
Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, database).
CAD design proficiency: Autodesk Plant 3D, P&ID, Inventor, AutoCAD (2‑D & 3‑D).
Work Requirements The role requires frequent interaction with employees and external customers, prolonged computer use, ability to lift up to 20 lbs, and occasional travel (overnight or weekend). Work may involve exposure to temperature extremes, dust, and noise. More than 40 hours per week will normally be required. Overnight travel and weekend/holiday hours may be required.
