News Producer (Primary) – KKTV

Job Type: Full‑time

Shift: Monday–Friday 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.

Salary: $18.27 – $23.00 /hr

Job Summary

Produce, plan and manage news broadcasts from start to finish and produce accurate, informative news stories in a fast‑paced environment. Lead newscast meetings and collaborate with the news team to determine story priorities.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Manage the TV news broadcast, coordinate with the production team, and oversee the order of the news broadcast.
• Work with the news team to decide on what stories to produce and report.
• Work closely with news anchors to produce and execute clear information and news stories for the viewer.
• Contribute content to KKTV.com and other digital products.
• Contribute story ideas and content on a daily basis, as well as special assignments and long‑range planning.
• Assist other producers and fill in on all news broadcasts.
• Lead newscast meeting.
• Identify and organize stories for the upcoming broadcast quickly.
• Review, edit, and approve stories submitted by reporters with speed and accuracy.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Applicable college degree required.
• Two years of producing experience preferred; experience as a news reporter, assignment editor, or other journalism experience accepted.
• Knowledge of news‑gathering tools, libel laws, and ability to write crisp teases.
• Proficiency in creating electronic graphics in a professional, timely manner.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
