Storm Duty Requirements Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company’s rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

Position Concept The Data Architects are responsible for the “back end” components of the organization’s Data Analytics environment from standards, architecture, and design perspectives. They oversee the implementation and support of the data movement and engineering processes required to populate the organization’s custom-built analytic data structures such as staging areas, data warehouse and data marts, and design of these structures. They handle strategy and design related to federation of custom-built data architecture with vendor-provided solutions, provide technical oversight and assure quality of work done by data analysts and data engineers and developers, and serve as SME with hands‑on experience with SAP and Azure platforms.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Define and evolve the data architecture in alignment with enterprise standards to support diverse use cases such as reporting, OLAP, dashboards, data mining, and statistical analysis. Ensure the architecture meets operational requirements including scalability, security, reliability, and flexibility. Determine the appropriate deployment environment, whether cloud-based or on‑premises. (25%)
Responsible for establishing best practices for source data analysis, ETL design and documentation, data federation across platforms, business rule placement, ETL testing and release management, database‑level security, and data masking, anonymization, and tokenization. (15%)
Translate user requirements into data models and supporting applications, guide data analysts in source analysis, advise ETL developers, and design logical and physical analytic data structures. Deploy metadata tools, implement security, collaborate on support environments, oversee the operational environment, and monitor and optimize ETL and data structure performance. (15%)
Accountable for the quality of data model and ETL application deliverables, establishing and managing QA functions including testing and peer reviews. (15%)
Provide technical oversight of ETL developers and data analysts, offering coaching and mentoring regarding technical skills and competencies. (15%)
Serve as a technical SME to provide consultation. (15%)
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information/Computer Science, Data/Information Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or related field.
Licenses/Certifications: Preferred – at least one professional certification.
Direct Experience: 7 years of direct work experience performing the duties & responsibilities of this position.
Hands‑on experience with platforms: SAP BW4/HANA, HANA Enterprise, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI, etc.
Preferred – Gas or Electric utility experience, experience working in large public or private‑sector organizations.
Required – Deep knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Azure suites (ETL, service bus, data quality tool components) and understanding of SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI platforms; deep knowledge of establishing ETL application design standards and implementing such applications.
Preferred – Knowledge of Electric Grid Solutions such as ADMS, EMS, AMI/MDM, Intergraph GIS; fundamentals of Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, blockchain; ability to assess emerging business & regulatory changes and articulate impacts.
