Position Overview

DCG seeks a senior design and customer experience professional to lead and manage creative services for a large‑scale Defense program that supports community quality‑of‑life programs for active military service members, their families, and survivors worldwide. This role serves as the primary design thought partner and customer experience strategist, driving innovation in how information, services, and experiences are delivered to the military community. Responsibilities include fostering human‑centered design, guiding creative and brand strategy, interpreting customer feedback and user insights, and enabling modern, accessible, and data‑informed customer experiences.

Note: This position is currently contingent on contract award.

Location: Remote; selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours. Candidates located within the National Capital Region will be given preference due to possible ad‑hoc, in‑person support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed user personas, scenarios, journey maps, and other artifacts based on collected data to support digital development and enhancement of content delivery and user experiences.
  • Offer targeted insights and recommendations for enhanced user engagement and reflect changes in digital landscapes to guide strategic recommendations for enhancing website performance and user engagement.
  • Provide the customer with overviews of key findings and trends observed with detailed usage patterns, user engagement metrics, and web health indicators such as site speed, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility.
  • Lead content lifecycle management and creation of visual concepts that inspire, inform, and captivate internal and external audiences.
  • Support online and print content, collateral, and multimedia materials, paid, earned, owned, and shared media and publications, and briefings or other presentations.
  • Lead creative services for imagery creation (original illustration, graphic design, still and video image capture) and audio capture in support of various content, policies, services, and programs.
  • Propose, create, modify, and obtain approval for customer imagery, including original graphic illustrations and designs, still and video image captures, and audio captures for online resources, print, collateral, and multimedia materials.
  • Support logo development, imagery, and standardization of visual identity through comprehensive visual style guides.
  • Provide comprehensive digital strategy support, focusing on UX research, innovative UI design and testing, daily content operations, and user engagement across customer‑ and information‑centric websites, applications, and social media platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience shaping and delivering strategic design, customer experience, and/or brand innovation initiatives for Government or large‑scale enterprises.
  • 5+ years of experience with human‑centered design, analysis of user feedback and behavioral data, and/or creative brand/strategy.
  • 3+ years of experience providing design vision and innovation strategies to senior leadership, Program Managers, and Product Owners that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • 3+ years of experience applying modern design practices, accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508/WCAG), and digital user experience principles, including managing UI/UX testing, evaluation, and optimization and developing UX strategies that incorporate journey mapping, usability testing, and iterative design in agile website and application development environments.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, Human‑Centered Design, or Business.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or interpreting user‑centered data, digital performance measures, or customer feedback and user insights to inform strategic goals.
  • Active certification(s) in usability or UX design, project and program leadership (e.g., PMI Project Management Professional or PgMP), human‑centered design, or analytics/marketing.
