Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serves as the liaison between Hospital Pharmacy Services, UI Health, the Department of Pharmacy Practice, and College of Pharmacy (COP) in HR matters.
- Administer recruiting, hiring, promotion, reclassifications and termination administrative processes and procedures.
- Confers with and assists recruitment requests for all employee classes; coordinates and manages the recruitment processes including, but not limited to, job descriptions, advertisements, reviewing applicant qualifications, interview scheduling, reference checks, extending offers.
- Facilitate human resources issue resolution by serving as employee contact and providing information, policy interpretation and counsel.
- Advises and counsels managers and employees in employee relations issues including, but not limited to, disciplinary packet preparation, grievance handling, performance evaluations, and standards of conduct.
- Provides information and advice to employees, and managers regarding personnel policies, employment practices and labor regulations to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.
- Recommends and participates in the development of new approaches, policies, and procedures to facilitate improvements in departmental efficiencies and services related to HR functions.
- May serve on department planning and policy‑making committees. Maintains, reviews and updates policies every 3 years as required by the University.
- Maintain department employee files to ensure consistency with regulatory and governmental guidelines and requirements.
- Develop and prepare reports and statistics including benefit and salary summaries, employee positions and staff demographics.
- Responsible for the payroll functions for faculty/academic, civil service, and academic/graduate hourly employees within the department utilizing University HR/Pay systems, e.g. Banner, HR Front End, GoTime, PARIS, Kronos, etc. Payroll functions include, but are not limited to, time entry review, processing merit increases, lump sum payments, stipends, overpayments, pay adjustments, change of pay status, and waiver issues.
- Maintains current knowledge of University labor agreements, Federal guidelines and laws, such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Serves as department security contact, initiates security application access requests, maintains department electronic e‑mail list.
- Monitors compliance with university and department requirements including, but not limited to licensure, mandatory trainings, conflict of interest/commitment reporting, State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (SOEEA), etc.
- Assists with coordination of training, continuing education, and staff development activities. Assists with the Hospital Pharmacy Services employee recognition program.
- Collaborates with inpatient and outpatient management and staff to develop and improve upon the program to ensure increased employee satisfaction.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of hospital recruiting experience, including sourcing, screening, and onboarding clinical and non‑clinical staff in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
