JOB TITLE: Shopify QC Engineer

LOCATION: Sherman Oaks, CA 91403

HYBRID: 3 days in office and 2 remote

TRAVEL: none

WORK HOURS: Vary based on projects. Standard ILM Office hours are 9 AM – 5 PM.

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES FILLING THIS ROLE: Candidates have either had Shopify experience OR QA/QC experience, but not both. Client will be switching to Shopify soon.

Qualifications

  • MUST HAVE: Shopify and QA/QC experience. (Proven experience in QA/QC for Shopify stores or large-scale DTC e-commerce).
  • Strong understanding of Shopify Plus, Liquid templates, themes, and multi-store management.
  • Familiarity with Shopify APIs, checkout extensibility, and third‑party app ecosystems.
  • Experience with cross‑browser/device QA testing and regression testing frameworks.
  • Skilled in project management and QA tools (Asana, Jira, BrowserStack, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify edge cases and inconsistencies.
  • Knowledge of martech ecosystem integrations (Klaviyo, Submarine, Everflow, GA4, TikTok Pixel, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner across dev, design, and marketing teams.

JOB OVERVIEW

Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) & Influencer Sales Funnels

We are seeking a detail-driven Shopify QC Engineer to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of our client’s Shopify stores and integrated DTC sales funnels. This role focuses on end-to-end quality control for multi-store omni channel operations, validating all site functionality, express checkout, and martech choreography.

The ideal candidate has deep Shopify knowledge and experience ensuring seamless, compliant, and scalable customer experiences across devices, channels, and global markets.

The company will be switching over to Shopify soon (the integration will likely take place in the next month or so). We are also looking for a Shopify Developer so both of these roles will be helping to grow out the Shopify channels.

Key Responsibilities

Shopify Store Quality Control

  • Manage QA testing protocols across multiple Shopify stores, ensuring stability and functionality.
  • Document and automate testing scenarios and test cases.
  • Conduct Root cause analysis with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvements
  • Work with channel leads and simulate end customer experience across channels
  • Validate front‑end experience, including layouts, themes, and branding compliance.
  • Confirm accurate setup and execution of express checkout, subscriptions, upsells, and cross‑sell flows.

App & Marketing Integrations

  • Test and troubleshoot third‑party app integrations.
  • Validate martech components (tracking pixels, analytics tags, attribution tools) work seamlessly across stores and campaigns.
  • Ensure cross‑channel consistency with influencer and DTC funnels.

Pricing, Promotions & Checkout Flows

  • Test discount codes, pricing rules, and promotional campaigns for accuracy.
  • Validate offer scenarios in omni channel environment
  • Validate cart and checkout experiences for all customer segments, including influencer-driven traffic.
  • Confirm tax/shipping rules, subscription logic, and multi‑currency pricing.

Cross-Device, Browser & Performance Testing

  • Conduct functional and regression testing across major browsers and devices (desktop, iOS, Android).
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness and fast page‑load performance.
  • Partner with development team to test staging vs. production parity.

Security, Compliance & Accessibility

  • Test Shopify stores for PCI compliance, GDPR/CCPA cookie rules, and secure checkout processes.
  • Ensure ADA accessibility compliance across all stores.
  • Partner with IT/security to monitor for errors, bugs, or vulnerabilities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain SOPs and QA playbooks for multi-store Shopify operations.
  • Document, track, and prioritize issues using project management tools (Jira, Asana).
  • Provide detailed feedback to developers and cross-functional teams for fast resolution.
