Responsibilities
Builds and cultivates mutually beneficial partnerships with agency ownership, management and frontline staff to increase Acadia’s relevance within the agency. Establishes position as a trusted advisor while delivering product information, underwriting philosophy, customer experience benefits and new business development to increase depth and maximize agency revenue.
Works with Underwriting Directors, and Home Office to manage regional book of business and identifies market opportunities by analyzing competitor intelligence, market and industry research, loss ratios, mix of business, policy count, premium growth, hit ratios and business retention.
Enterprise resource for customer‑facing service touchpoints company‑wide.
Identify, develop and manage association relationships.
Collaborates with PCM’s to lead ABOA.
May hire, develop, and lead a team of Sales Specialists and Customer Experience Advocates that will execute on the developed strategies and will consistently achieve/exceed their goals.
Works with key business partners to identify operational processes and touchpoint inefficiencies that create redundant or unnecessary steps in the customer experience process.
Collaborates with various departmental leadership and field team members to adjust practices and protocols for operational efficiency.
Possesses a strong knowledge of the territory and the region including agency, competitor, demographics and economic trends. Shares this knowledge with the Acadia team to promote organizational learning and opportunities.
Conducts regular phone calls and visits with agency principals, producers and CSRs with pre‑defined agenda topics related to production, individual accounts (including pipeline development), proposals, competition and products.
Takes an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to identifying and developing new business opportunities, sales strategies, customer service and engagement strategies.
In collaboration with key stakeholders, develops an annual Business Development Strategy for assigned territory that matches our market potential, underwriting appetite, customer base and competitive environment.
Utilizes market analytics to assess geographic territory and identify prospect and current customers with highest growth potential.
Agency Reviews.
Develops understanding of specific industry characteristics including customer behaviors and patterns within the assigned territory.
Develops and maintains key relationships with other W.R. Berkley companies to capitalize on business opportunities and efficiencies.
Active contributor to segment leaders including support of overarching strategy.
Mentoring/Coaching.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a 4‑year college or university and five or more years of commercial sales or underwriting experience in the industry.
Advanced ability to influence the sale: ability to convince current and prospective agents to represent and promote Acadia products and services.
Advanced relationship management skills: superior interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
Advanced skill of driving for results: self‑assured, responds confidently to objections, and does not give up easily.
Ability to collaborate, provide constructive feedback and actively listen.
Advanced communication skills: strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deliver professional presentations.
Able to consistently demonstrate commitment to company values and innovation behaviors.
Ability to work outside of normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities.
Exceptional sales influencing and negotiation skills.
Strong business and financial acumen.
Must be action oriented and have strong drive for results.
Works effectively with all levels and can easily build new relationships.
