Position Overview We are seeking a motivated CAD Designer with 1-2 years of experience in land development civil engineering. The ideal candidate is experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D and has hands‑on knowledge of site grading, utilities, drainage/detention design, and earthwork. You will work closely with our project engineers and surveyors in all phases of development – from schematic layout through construction documents and coordination.
Responsibilities
Produce detailed civil design drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including site grading, pavements, utilities (water, sanitary, storm), and earthwork.
Support engineers with drafting and design related to land development: site layout, utility profiles, drainage calculations, sediment/erosion control.
Maintain and apply CAD file standards and naming conventions; assist with file management and revisions.
Collaborate with surveyors, planners, landscape architects and contractors to ensure integrated deliverables.
Assist with redlines, submittals, quantity take‑offs, and respond to reviewer comments.
Engage in project team meetings, site visits, and work directly with senior staff to learn permitting and municipal coordination.
Strive for continuous growth: learn Texas land‑development codes and municipal standards, develop technical proficiency, and contribute to a growing team.
Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in a land development civil engineering environment (consulting or in‑house) working with site grading, utilities, drainage.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D required. Experience with other CAD software or BIM tools is a plus.
Working understanding of land development process: site layout, earthwork, drainage design, utility systems.
Technical certificate, Associate’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree in CAD technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent training preferred.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organization and communication skills, ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
Desire to learn and grow, take on increasing responsibility and ownership.
Familiarity with Texas municipal/regional land‑development codes or willingness to learn them.
Bonus: experience with point files, survey integration, Revit site modeling, or other civil workflows.
