Design Manager in Aviation

Location: Chicago, IL (hybrid at Willis Tower)

Salary range: $110,000.00 – $122,000.00 per year

Position Summary

As a Design Manager in Aviation we will develop and implement design standards, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and lead strategic design plans for both internal and external spaces. We look for leaders who are humble, hungry, and smart.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement design standards, including selecting appropriate FF&E, finishes, and other design elements in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Work with CRE project managers to develop and coordinate conceptual designs for use in executive and finance review/approval.
• Collaborate internally to develop strategic design plans for improvements to internal and external facing spaces and for delivering new initiatives.
• Manage time and workload effectively, prioritizing work based on leadership guidance.
• Develop and lead space planning, programming and utilization calculations for client‑owned and/or maintained facilities throughout the network.
• Open, review, and understand architectural plans from third‑party architects and engineers.
• Provide subject matter expertise in regard to design for new or evolving initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design and/or architecture.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• NCIDQ certification preferred.
• Familiarity with facility design, planning, or execution job functions.
• Knowledge of applicable design codes, including ADA.
• Ability to be in office up to three days per week (Willis Tower, Chicago, IL).
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of applicable design codes, including ADA.
• Software skills: Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, and InDesign.
