Position Overview
We are seeking a Managing Editor who will lead the day‑to‑day management of Chevron’s Content Newsroom. The role includes managing editorial and publishing calendars, assigning stories, and heading a team of brand journalists and editors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Brand Newsroom’s editorial and publishing calendars.
- Lead a team of brand journalists, copy editors, designers and content strategists, acting as the assigning editor and developing story ideas.
- Set the global content plan and secure alignment across leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal Business Unit and Advocacy communications teams to support major moments, events and announcements.
- Co‑ordinate with corporate channels, paid, owned, social, media relations, partnership & events, investor relations and other disciplines to align content calendars.
- Use an agile approach to content development and maintain publishing commitments.
- Partner with teams to leverage trendspotting, content insights, key learnings and analytics to inform strategy.
- Ensure compliance and substantiation across all newsroom output.
- Contribute in a hands‑on capacity, including creating content as needed.
Qualifications
- 8+ years’ experience in journalism, digital/media/publishing, or a newsroom environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience setting editorial strategy for a large publication, website or company, and leading content creators to deliver against that strategy.
- Proven ability to build consensus and collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Experience developing digital content and online engagement strategies in innovative ways.
- Strong writing skills, attention to detail and sound judgment in executing stories.
- Portfolio that demonstrates expertise in innovation and internal/external communications.
- Experience navigating a Fortune 50 organization within strict guidelines.
- Previous use of data and analysis to evaluate campaign success and identify improvement opportunities.
