Technical Writer / Instructional Designer (Hybrid – DFW Area)
Location:
Dallas–Fort Worth, TX (Hybrid: 2–3 days onsite per week)
Base pay range
$65.00/hr - $70.00/hr
About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled
Technical Writer / Instructional Designer
to join our team in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This role is ideal for someone who can blend strong documentation skills with instructional design expertise to create clear, engaging, and performance-based training materials.
You’ll partner closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), process owners, and technical teams to document key processes and translate complex technical concepts into effective learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user guides.
Design and develop performance-based training materials, including eLearning modules, facilitator guides, and job aids.
Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with organizational goals.
Utilize authoring tools (e.g.,
Articulate 360 ,
Adobe Captivate ) to design interactive and engaging learning content.
Manage content within
LMS platforms , ensuring proper organization, version control, and accessibility.
Continuously evaluate and improve training materials based on learner feedback and performance outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Instructional Design ,
Technical Communication ,
Education , or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in
technical writing ,
instructional design , or learning development, ideally within a technical or engineering environment.
Proficiency in
Articulate 360 ,
Captivate , and
LMS administration .
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills with an eye for detail.
Ability to work effectively in a
hybrid
environment (2–3 days onsite per week) and manage multiple priorities.
Experience in the
utilities or engineering
industry is a plus.
