Job Summary
The Events and Marketing Manager plans, organizes, and administers all HPRT special events, marketing and some programming for the citizens of Hardeeville and the surrounding areas. This role is responsible for promoting and executing large and small‑scale special events, including but not limited to Festival on Main, 4th‑off‑Main, Trunk or Treat, Earth Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Parade, Merry on Main, and others that enhance the quality of life in the community. The manager also handles the department’s marketing efforts—social media, website content, and promotional materials (video and print)—and serves as the Chief Branding Officer for HPRT, ensuring all recreation content maintains the integrity of the HPRT brand. The position reflects the Vision and Mission of the Hardeeville Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department and implements city‑adopted goals, procedures, and policies under the direction of the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. This full‑time role requires flexible hours and minimal travel.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and administer special programs and community events.
Collaborate with the community to develop new and innovative programming while seeking partnership opportunities for greater community involvement and reduced duplication of services.
Plan and implement short‑, long‑term, and annual goals, objectives, and strategies for programming and special‑event enhancement and growth.
Develop, communicate, and monitor policies, procedures, and standards for the PRT Department in accordance with national standards for all programs and events.
Oversee the REC DESK community portal.
Maintain professional knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars, training programs, and reading trade and professional journals and publications to keep special events, programs, and marketing relevant.
Act as a departmental liaison to public engagements, meetings, seminars, and community groups or organizations.
Oversee the development and enhancement of flyers, registration forms, calendars, publications, and marketing materials—including posts and videos—promoting the PRT departmental brand.
Market and advertise city‑sponsored programs and events through PSAs, social media, and other marketing platforms.
Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university in the field of Recreation, Marketing, Communication, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field.
Preferred:
Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) and Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification.
