Associate Technical Designer - Fashion Brand NYC

Our client, a famous fashion brand, is seeking an Associate Technical Designer to join the team temporarily in their New York office.

Illustrator experience is a MUST for this role.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update tech packs, documenting fit comments, specs and bill of materials.
• Manage flow of information related to fit process, such as tracking samples and fit approvals, update tech log, send fit list, and communicate with factory counterparts.
• Evaluate fit problems in live mode, conduct fit sessions independently and translate corrections to patterns and/or comments.
• Ensure accurate garment development that meets Design’s aesthetic.
• Communicate with factories in a timely manner through clear written comments outlining construction changes and workmanship improvements utilizing illustrator, digital photos, and technical sketches.
• Communicate verbal and written content accurately and timely with others.
• Daily organization and upkeep of sample history and maintain data history.

Requirements

• Associate or Bachelor Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
• Knowledge of garment construction methods and understanding of grading principles.
• Knowledge of factory machinery specific to production area (domestic and international).
• Knowledge of structural and decorative trims.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of the technical role.
• Proficient in PC applications including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and understanding of sewing, draping, patterns, garment construction, spec knowledge and technical sketching.
