Marketing Direction is a fast-growing, fully remote marketing agency that delivers high-quality marketing programs to B2B companies. We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Strategic Lead Marketer / Senior Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team. This unique role requires a strategic thinker who personally executes marketing work across multiple disciplines. You will develop comprehensive marketing strategies AND personally implement significant portions of tactical work yourself - not primarily manage others to do it. While you'll coordinate with specialists as needed, this role requires current hands‑on execution capability across several digital marketing disciplines.
As a Strategic Lead Marketer / Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for both crafting and executing marketing plans for assigned B2B clients across various industries. You will work closely with clients to understand their objectives, develop tailored strategies, and then personally execute core marketing activities. While you'll coordinate with specialists and freelancers for certain areas, you must be capable of hands‑on implementation across multiple digital marketing disciplines.
This role demands a proactive individual with strong hands‑on skills in various digital marketing disciplines and the ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
IMPORTANT: This role requires you to personally build campaigns, create content, set up automation, manage paid advertising, implement SEO, and execute other marketing activities yourself - not primarily oversee others doing this work. If your primary experience is managing teams or directing others to execute, this is not the right role.
ACTIVITIES:
- Develop and present comprehensive marketing strategies and 24‑month Detailed Marketing Action Plans (DMAPs) to clients (must be proficient with PowerPoint and Excel).
- Lead client discussions to understand their business goals, target audience, and marketing needs.
- Translate comprehensive marketing strategies into actionable project plans and manage their execution.
- Personally execute hands‑on marketing work across multiple disciplines, including (but not limited to):
- Marketing strategy and planning frameworks
- Brand strategy, positioning, and messaging development
- Account‑Based Marketing (ABM) programs
- Demand generation program design and execution
- CRM management and integration (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho)
- Marketing automation platform management
- Search Engine Marketing (SEO & PPC)
- Social Media Marketing (Organic & Paid)
- Email Marketing campaigns
- Content Marketing (strategy, copywriting, visual content, presentations)
- Website and Landing Page Optimization
- Analytics and Reporting
- Coordinate with specialists and freelancers as needed, but you must be capable of personally executing core marketing work across multiple disciplines on a regular basis.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact for strategy and implementation.
- Monitor and analyze marketing performance, providing regular reports and insights to clients, and making necessary adjustments to optimize results.
- Manage client marketing budgets and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Host and lead regular status meetings with clients and internal teams.
- Maintain detailed project status reports and communicate progress effectively.

- Current, hands‑on proficiency with SEO, PPC, social media marketing, email marketing, content marketing, and website analytics.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, Workamajig), CRM systems (e.g. HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce), and content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Active, working knowledge of relevant marketing platforms and tools (e.g., Google Ads, social media ad platforms, email marketing platforms, Google Analytics, GoHighLevel).
- Excellent project management, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive strategic adjustments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Strong client management and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive marketing experience, with a blend of strategic planning and hands‑on implementation.
- Mix of corporate, agency and consulting experience focused on B2B marketing is required, with demonstrated capability in both strategic planning and hands‑on execution across multiple digital marketing disciplines.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
- Recent, demonstrated experience personally executing tactical marketing work (not primarily managing teams to do it).
WORK ARRANGEMENT:
This request is for independent contractors – not full time or part time employment. This will encompass project work as needed for clients in a variety of industries. We are a fully remote agency, so you will have the luxury of working from your home office with only occasional in‑person presentations and client visits.
