Designer II - Water Resources Join LJA as a Designer II in Public Works where you will assist the design originator with non‑routine and complex technical drafting support for assigned projects independently.

POSITION OVERVIEW As a Designer II at LJA Public Works, you will assist the design originator with non‑routine and complex technical drafting support for assigned projects independently, working closely with the Design Originator and Design Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform non‑routine and complex CAD drafting assignments from verbal instructions with minimal supervision.

Use Civil3D to create detailed designs of paving, grading, drainage, utilities and general site development.

Generate quantity take‑offs for engineer’s estimates.

Understand and accurately implement technical design requirements and specifications required by various clients.

Work independently to produce drawing sets, exhibits, calculations, and other required files which are checked by an engineer and Design Manager.

Other assigned duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer‑aided drafting or equivalent experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years’ experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Technical knowledge of CAD operations and engineering specialty discipline.

Effective communication skills both oral and written.

Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers.

Ability to build strong relationships.

Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs.
