Position Summary
The Studio Arts Technician within the Department of Photography, Film, and Media Studies will provide the students with technical support in one or more of the studio arts labs.
Responsibilities
- Ensures safety procedures are strictly followed and hazards are minimized.
- Provides technical assistance to students.
- Prepares instructional materials for laboratory demonstrations and use.
- Provides guidance on assignments and demonstrates techniques in the specialized lab assignment.
- Analyzes and solves routine and non‑routine problems.
- Ensures new equipment and supplies are put away in a timely manner.
- Maintains inventory and ensures equipment is in good shape when checked out/in; completes appropriate forms.
- Prepares facilities and equipment for faculty use.
- Installs and takes down exhibitions.
- Ensures equipment checked out is appropriate for the student.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- BFA or AFA and 5 years related experience.
- Intermediate expertise in professional cameras, lighting, and sound gear.
- Intermediate expertise in analog and digital photography processing.
- Intermediate expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
- Intermediate expertise in Epson fine‑art, large‑format printers.
