Type: Part-time Temporary (Non-Exempt) – 12 hours per week
Hybrid Schedule: No
Salary: $15.34–$18.61 per hour, based on experience

Position Summary

The Studio Arts Technician will provide technical support in one or more studio arts labs under the Department of Photography, Film, and Media Studies. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, offering technical assistance, preparing instructional materials, guiding assignments, and resolving routine and non‑routine problems.

Technical Support

  • Ensure safety procedures are strictly followed and hazards are minimized.
  • Provide technical assistance to students.
  • Prepare instructional materials for laboratory demonstrations and use.
  • Provide guidance on assignments and demonstrate techniques in the specialized lab assignment.
  • Analyze and solve routine and non‑routine problems.

Equipment Management

  • Ensure new equipment and supplies are put away in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory.
  • Prepare faculty & facilities for use.
  • Install and dismantle exhibitions.
  • Ensure equipment checked out/in is in good shape and proper forms are completed.
  • Maintain and repair laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure equipment checked out is appropriate for the student.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 5 years of relevant experience or coursework.
  • Basic expertise in professional cameras, lighting, and sound gear.
  • Basic expertise in analog and digital photography processing.
  • Basic expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Basic expertise with Epson fine‑art, large‑format printers.
