Reporting directly to the department Director, Sr. Director or Associate Chief, this role is responsible for financial and productivity reporting, managing staffing, scheduling and resource utilization. It oversees day‑to‑day department operations to maintain optimal customer satisfaction and support across UI Health.
Duties & Responsibilities
Achieve department objectives by determining system improvements and eliminating repetitive processes while improving departmental operations.
Ensure accuracy of data and fiscal information by reviewing invoices and other reports related to staffing and nursing productivity.
Conduct complex operational analysis and propose solutions to improve and streamline service‑related processes.
Prepare and lead training for staffing, payroll, and scheduling in the department.
Recruit, orient, train, assign, schedule, and discipline employees; communicate job expectations and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
Serve as a resource concerning hospital administrative procedures and policies to subordinates and other administrative personnel; direct the compilation and maintenance of procedure manuals and informational materials that can impact the department.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
3 years (36 months) of preparation equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in hospital administration, health administration, business administration, or a similar field, including college coursework leading to a major in those areas.
Or 1 year (12 months) of hospital/medical center/health care administrative work experience, paired with progressively responsible experience that demonstrates knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories, and practices used in hospital administration, health administration, or business administration.
Or a Master’s Degree in hospital administration, health administration, business administration, or a similar area of study with 3 years (36 months) of responsible administrative experience comparable to Health Care Administrator I in this series.
