Director Strategy & Initiative Design role at Equinix. This role is within the Enterprise Data & Analytics team. The position reports to the Senior Director, GMPO Data Products & Business Operations.

Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director, GMPO Data Products & Business Operations within the Enterprise Data & Analytics team, the Director Strategy & Initiative will play a critical role in shaping and driving Equinix’s enterprise data strategy, delivering initiatives that maximize business value and reduce technical debt. This role works with EDNA leaders to identify, prioritize, sequence, and track high‑value initiatives that drive measurable business value and enable Equinix’s digital future. Ideal candidates bring a unique combination of business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to engage stakeholders across domains, fostering alignment and momentum toward Equinix’s data‑driven culture.

Responsibilities

Translate EDNA’s overarching goals into clear decisions, actionable milestones, and a cohesive product roadmap.

Identify and prioritize strategic data investments (e.g., tooling, platform decisions) to optimize ROI while ensuring scalability and technical soundness.

Conduct primary research and external benchmarking to define EDNA’s north star and inform future‑state vision.

Explore longer‑term opportunities for data monetization through products, partnerships, and services.

Bring external perspectives when needed, through primary research, industry benchmarking, and engagement with professional services or consulting firms.

Partner with the Chief Digital & Innovation Officer organization to co‑design the unified intake and prioritization platform and process.

Create transparency and standardization across 15+ data domains to drive clarity on initiative selection and prioritization.

Lead the transition from Jira‑based intake to strategic enterprise‑level prioritization with support of broader change mgmt. team.

Establish a business case center of excellence to bring financial rigor and strategic focus to initiative development.

Instill a value‑oriented mindset by leading initiative sizing and effort estimation for key initiatives, and coach EDNA data product managers to effectively develop business cases and think through financial aspects of data products (e.g., ROI, ramp period, etc.).

For high‑value initiatives, work with functional Finance partners and business stakeholders to create a gating process to track initiative progression (e.g., from T‑shirt sizing of impact to materialized impact), with the end goal of generating positive AFFO (adjusted funds from operations).

Qualifications

Minimum 10–15 years experience in Finance and Transformation functions, with a track record of EBITDA impact (through revenue generation or cost reduction).

Strong experience in enterprise‑level strategy development, product roadmap design, and initiative execution, ideally within data‑driven or adjacent industries.

Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex technical topics into tangible business language.

Proactive, self‑starter leadership style with a track record of independently driving complex initiatives and stakeholder orchestration.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions, build credibility with senior leaders (including executive team), and foster high‑trust relationships.

Corporate Strategy, Finance, or Consulting background with expertise in strategic planning, corporate development, business casing, or product strategy strongly preferred.

Experience coaching and mentoring others, including subtle and supportive leadership across levels.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, data science, information management, or related field.

Pay Range United States – Redwood City Office (GHQ) Salary: $186,000 – $280,000 USD per year.

United States – Dallas Infomart Office (DAI) Salary: $155,000 – $233,000 USD per year.

Pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full‑time position determined by role, level, and location. Individuals may receive additional compensation such as bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.
