About the Role:
We are seeking an Executive Director to lead strategic, financial, and administrative operations for a county economic development authority. This pivotal role drives economic development initiatives, manages properties and programs, and serves as the primary liaison between government, community, and private sector stakeholders to promote business growth and investment in Putnam County.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic planning and execution of economic development goals and programs.
Attract, retain, and expand business and industry in the county.
Manage development revenue bond capabilities in compliance with Florida Statutes.
Oversee owned and controlled properties, including sales contracts, leases, and site readiness.
Collaborate with local government and chambers of commerce to align economic priorities.
Advocate for infrastructure, workforce, and policy initiatives supporting county growth.
Represent the authority at community, industry, and public events to promote investment opportunities.
Maintain financial integrity, including budgeting, audits, and strategic use of resources.
Administrative & Operational Management
Schedule and coordinate meetings; issue public notices and prepare required reports.
Oversee documentation for audits, financial disclosures, and state filings.
Maintain and update the website ensuring operational transparency.
Approve invoices and coordinate payments with the county clerk’s office.
Manage insurance renewals, property marketing, and compliance reporting.
Prepare and submit annual reports including financial disclosures and government surveys.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, Economic Development, or related field (master’s preferred).
5+ years of progressive leadership experience in economic development, government relations, or public/private partnerships.
Proven success in business recruitment, retention, and community engagement.
Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and public sector compliance.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and represent the authority with professionalism.
